Liputan6.com, Surabaya – East Java Deputy Governor Emil Elistianto Dardak is optimistic that the COVID-19 vaccination coverage will reach 70 percent in September.
“Vaccination in East Java is proportional to the national achievement. So, the vaccination achievement rate is around 15 percent of the national figure,” said Emil in Situbondo, Saturday (14/8/2021).
According to him, the enthusiasm of the people in various regions in East Java is good enough to participate in vaccination, even though hoax information about the dangers of vaccines continues to emerge on social media.
“Hoax information about vaccines is circulating extraordinary, such as in Islamic boarding schools, kiai have been vaccinated but parents of students refuse to have their children vaccinated because they are still influenced by hoax information. This is what we have to fight for,” he said.
Emil Dardak said, to anticipate that bad things do not happen to residents who have not been vaccinated, health workers must check the health of residents, starting from sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, and others, which have a bad effect when exposed to COVID-19.
He added that for residents who have not been vaccinated, their movement space will be limited because they are vulnerable to contracting COVID-19.
“For example, people who have not been vaccinated cannot use public transportation because they are considered to be at risk of transmission. We hope that vaccination in Situbondo can slowly be fulfilled or reach the target,” said Emil Dardak.
