PINRANG, UJUNGJARI.COM – Regent of Pinrang Irwan Hamid with the Regional Secretary of Pinrang Regency Ir. Culture and the Head of the Food Crops and Horticulture Agency, A. Tjalo Kerrang, attended the virtual launching of Merdeka Export by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, Saturday (14/8/2021).
This activity was initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture where on this occasion, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia exports agricultural products from 15 ports and airports throughout Indonesia.
Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Syahrul Yasin Limpo in his remarks said that according to President Jokowi’s direction, agriculture is expected to continue to develop during the pandemic, because agriculture is the backbone of strengthening the national economy amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Furthermore, Syahrul said, according to the direction of President Jokowi, all sectors must encourage investment and exports as one of the key factors for the recovery of the national economy.
Therefore, the agricultural sector also participates to do this in addition to economic recovery, it is also expected to improve the standard of living of agricultural actors.
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo welcomed this, he advised that in the future every district/city in Indonesia would be able to explore every agricultural potential so that it could produce production that can be exported to other countries.
However, President Jokowi advised that national food reserves should also be considered, although exports remain the next goal.
“I hope that the fulfillment of domestic food is taken into account, if there is a surplus or leftover, please export it,” said President Jokowi.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Pinrang, Irwan Hamid, revealed that for Pinrang Regency itself, it is currently working to increase the export of Pinrang Regency’s local products.
Regent Irwan Continuing, Pinrang Regency some time ago has released the export of agricultural products in the form of candlenut and in the future is expected to be able to increase the quantity of exports of this commodity. (Jaya)
