The release of Petronas circulated among the media on the sidelines of the Austrian GP, Saturday (14-8-2021) at the Red Bull Ring Circuit. This short release only confirms the issues that circulated in the last few hours. The reason for the setback is also not clear and will likely be explained at the upcoming British GP. However, it is strongly suspected that financial problems were the aftermath of the long Covid-19 pandemic since the beginning of last year.
The certainty of Petronas’ departure was also revealed from the statement of Sepang International Circuit (SIC) CEO Azhan Shafriman Hanif to the media.

Quoted from Speedcafe.com, Petronas Head of Strategic Communications Datin Anita Azrina Abdul Aziz said the partnership with SIC has proven Petronas’ R&D capabilities. He was proud of the results achieved so far.
“Together we have achieved several prominent moments in this sport. That is an indication of the success of what we are doing. On behalf of Petronas we thank SIC for the partnership so far,” he said.
There has been no rumor about the next SIC main sponsor. It’s just that their teams in Moto3 and Moto2 have to go next year to keep their MotoGP team alive. The team is also negotiating with Yamaha to determine the specifications of the motorcycle used next year.
The issue is that the Yamaha SRT team will get a share of the YZR-M1 Spec B for next year. This year two Petronas Yamaha Srt team jockeys glide with two technical specifications.
