JAKARTA, JITUNEWS.COM – PPP Deputy, Arsul Sani asked the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) to change the theme of the article writing competition in commemoration of Santri Day. According to him, the theme ‘Respect the Flag according to Islamic Law’ actually opens up space for debate in the community.
“The theme of the competition as posted in PPP’s opinion actually opens up space for debate in the community. The matter of respecting the flag and singing the national anthem is something that has (not) become a problem for the majority of Muslims,” said Arsul Sani as reported by detikcom, Friday. (13/8/2021).
Arsul said that Muhammadiyah, Nahdlatul Ulama, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and other Islamic organizations had no problem with respecting the flag or singing the national anthem.

“Try changing the (theme), for example, not by writing or arguing about respecting the flag and singing the national anthem. But a photo contest in which the students dress to respect the flag or sing the national anthem. So it’s not a question of their legal views on those two things,” said Arsul.
Furthermore, Arsul asked BPIP to be more creative in packaging programs to build nationalism. Instead of making programs that cause controversy in the community.
