Biotechnology Study Program Not Too Interested in Indonesia

Jakarta – Director of Policy & Public Affairs of Pfizer Indonesia, Bambang Chriswanto in a virtual meeting held by Pfizer, Tuesday (10/8/21) said that the department or program Biotechnology studies not very popular with the public.

“The field of health biotechnology studies is not very attractive. There is a misperception that this field has no potential for them. It is less attractive to them,” said Bambang.

To overcome this, Pfizer initiated the Pfizer Biotech Fellowship program for undergraduate, postgraduate students to lecturers and researchers in the field of biotechnology. According to Sulistyo Emantoko, the Head of IPSBI said that the study of biotechnology in Indonesia must be developed and must be sustainable.

“Improving the curriculum to be more applicable to biotechnology. The development of the biotechnology curriculum must be more applicable in everyday life,” said Emantoko.

“We believe that this program is timely and in the right context. Pfizer’s Biotech Fellowship is to develop science and technology and generate innovation and research,” said Bambang.

“Pfizer’s Biotech Fellowship Program and non-binding educational support are not part of the company’s recruitment. Efforts to build a conducive research ecosystem. Efforts to produce research workers biotechnology reliable in Indonesia,” said Bambang.

What exactly is Biotechnology?

Biotechnology is a department that studies the use of living things. In Indonesia, biotechnology was first used for the food industry.
