The BNN Team’s Story of the Difficulty of Reaching a Marijuana Field in Aceh – Atjeh Watch

Jakarta – The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) team often destroys marijuana fields in Aceh. But to find and reach the marijuana fields there is not an easy thing.

Usually the perpetrators plant marijuana in the middle of the Sumatran forest with dense vegetation characters so that it is difficult to detect. To get there, BNN officers have to struggle to take a steep path until they are faced with poisonous plants.

There was no exception for the destruction of the cannabis field at the foot of Mount Seulawah Agam, Aceh Besar, on June 16, 2021 yesterday. Quoting the official BNN website, Monday, August 9, 2021, as many as 202 joint teams were deployed to explore the location where the Latin cannabis sativa tree was planted.

The team was led directly by the Head of BNN Petrus Reinhard Golose. The entire army followed the path with the slope of the ground reaching 80 degrees. A total of 2 points of marijuana fields were found with different plant characters.

In the first location, 1 hectare of marijuana fields was found at an altitude of 424 MDPL, while the second location was at an altitude of 853 MDPL. To get there, the BNN team had to pass through a steep hill filled with sharp rocks, sand and gravel.

Along the way, there are many poisonous plants known to the public as nettles. “If pricked by fine thorns on the leaves and stems, it can cause itching and burning like burning, causing a high fever for several days,” said Head of the Public Relations and Protocol Bureau of BNN Sulistyo Pudjo Hartono.
