Program Shipnaming and Launching KRI Golok-688 was carried out by the Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono, at the PT Lundin Industry Invest Shipyard, Banyuwangi, on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

KRI Golok-688 is a Trimaran Fast Missile Ship (KCR). This ship is an important manifestation of meeting the needs of the Indonesian Navy’s main weapon system (Alutsista) in accordance with the existing strategic planning, including the wide area of ​​Indonesian waters that needs to be protected.

Yudo said the Trimaran KCR, named KRI Golok-688, was the first ship product made of composite material which has the advantages of high specific strength, is lighter, and has excellent fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance.

Therefore, this ship can be used as a development design as a prototype trimaran ship.

“The philosophical meaning of naming this ship is that KRI Golok-688 should be used to carry out any given operational tasks, both Military Operations for War (OMP) and Military Operations Other Than War (OMSP),” said Admiral Yudo, in a written statement. , Sunday (22/8/2021).

“With its high speed and high destructive power, it is hoped that this ship will be able to carry out missile fast ship tactics, namely hit and run, ”Said Admiral Yudo.

In addition, Kasal said that the construction of the KCR Trimaran ship certainly has a very strategic meaning for PT Lundin Industry Invest as one of the national defense industries that has succeeded in developing defense industry technology for the national interest.

This step is expected to be a solution in an effort to reduce dependence on other countries regarding the procurement of the Indonesian Navy’s Alutsista in the future.
