FIXPEKANBARU.COM – The leg of a tapir ( Tapirus indicus ) has been severed by a snare in the PT Arara Abadi Industrial Plantation Forest (HT) concession area, in Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province.
Plh BBKSDA Riau, Hartono, said the protected animal was found by the company on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. The finding was reported to the Riau Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA).
“By the time it was found, the Tapir had already escaped by struggling and its legs were severed and it was suspected that they were entangled in alternating entanglements,” Hartono said, Saturday, August 21, 2021.

The male tapir, estimated to be 10 years old, was evacuated by the company at the Nilo District Office. “The leg is broken on the right side,” said Hartono.
