Regional Heads Are Considered More Suitable as President, SPI Survey: In Line with Ganjar’s Electability

Presidential candidates who have a background as regional heads have greater potential than the military or general chairmen of political parties.

JAKARTA, JITUNEWS.COM – The Spektrum Politica Institute (SPI) survey agency stated that presidential candidates with a background as regional head have greater potential than those with military backgrounds or general chairmen of political parties.

The results of the SPI survey show that as many as 27 percent of respondents think that presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election should have a regional head background. Meanwhile, 26 percent of respondents chose a presidential candidate with a military background.

“Regional heads are 27 percent. Military, TNI, or Polri are 26 percent,” according to the results of the Spektrum Politica Institute survey on Thursday (19/8/2021).

While the third position, academics or intellectuals is considered suitable to be a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election with a value of 10.2 percent. Then 8.1 percent of religious leaders, 6.4 percent of businessmen, 4.8 percent of political party leaders, 4.7 percent of ministers, 4.2 percent of mass organizations leaders, and 1 percent of legislators.

The Spectrum Politica Institute stated that the survey results related to the background of the presidential candidates were in line with the electability of presidential candidates, which placed the Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo in the first position, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto in the second place, and the third Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

“This result is congruent with the electability of the presidential candidates who placed Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan in the top three,” according to the Spektrum Politica Institute.

It is known that the SPI survey was conducted on 5-17 July 2021. A total of 1,240 respondents were interviewed directly. The margin of error for this survey is 2.8 percent with a 95 percent confidence level.
