CENTRAL JAVA, MAGELANGEKSPRES.COM – Don’t underestimate a dime! That sentence deserves our attention. It is Daniel Budi who has carved out a unique story at the Yamaha Mataram Sakti Setiabudi dealer, Semarang, Central Java, when he bought a Yamaha Lexi 125 Standard motorcycle for cash using the change he had collected for one year and seven months.
Ayuni Wulan, head of the Yamaha Mataram dealer branch, Sakti Setiabudi, said that buying a Yamaha motorcycle in cash is actually not a new thing. But paying out so many dimes was something new to the dealer.
“Despite the current pandemic conditions, accepting payments in cash in large amounts is quite risky. However, we gratefully accept it and calculate it carefully and with strict health protocol standards,” said Ayuni.
The dealer was surprised when a customer came and said he would buy a Yamaha Lexi in cash while handing over the money wrapped in plastic.
Sure enough, after the money in the plastic bag was opened, there were various denominations, ranging from Rp. 500 and Rp. 1000 coins and banknotes of Rp. IDR 10,000,-.
It took 5 hours to calculate
“To calculate that many denominations, we involved all the sales counters and several sales teams. After counting for 5 hours, the money Daniel brought was Rp. 22 million,” Ayuni added.
According to Daniel, he was deliberately collecting pennies to buy his dream motorbike, the Yamaha Lexi.
“Every day I set aside income regardless of its value because by collecting money little by little, I am optimistic that my desire to own a Yamaha Lexi will come true,” said Daniel.
The reason he bought a Yamaha Lexi is because this product has a myriad of advantages. In addition to using Bluecore technology which makes the motorcycle fuel efficient, it is also equipped with hazard lights that help in an emergency.
“Yamaha Lexi also has a very wide luggage capacity so it can accommodate some equipment so it really helps me. The tires used are also tubeless,” Daniel added. (rls)
