Previously, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) had discussed this shift in production sites in the middle of last year.

Based on the Small but Beautiful MMC medium-term strategy in July 2020, the principal appointed the Philippines as the production base and exports of commercial vehicles to Southeast Asia.

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) also stated that it was ready to take on the task.

“Frankly, the production plan in the Philippines has been discussed at the headquarter,” said Tetsuhiro Tsuchida, Director of Sales & Marketing Division of MMKSI, during a virtual press conference, Wednesday (18/8/2021).

The discourse is predicted to affect the production of the Mitsubishi L300 which is currently being carried out in Cikarang, Bekasi since May 2018.

Please note, the Mitsubishi factory in Cikarang, Bekasi is also the place for the production of the Mitsubishi Xpander and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

Tsuchida also explained that until now there has been no decision regarding the discourse of moving the production.
