Because there are many, once harvested, residents can get a large sack of seaweed from the coast of Minajaya. When the season comes like today, seaweed is sold raw, because it is widely used for various foods such as lunkhead.

Nutrient-rich plants, often also called algae because they belong to the algae group and consist of several types such as brown algae, red algae, and green algae.

“In addition to being sold to collectors, it is also sold around. For consumption, seaweed can be eaten as dodol, as well as vegetables, cooked with stir-fry,” explained traveling trader Laeni (43 years), a resident of Citaritih Village, Pasiripis Village, Surade District, to Sukabumiupdate.com , Saturday (7/8/2021).

He admitted that he had only been harvesting and selling seaweed for the last two days. At this location, the most common types of seaweed found are green and red. “It’s only been 2 days that seaweed has appeared on the coral reefs of Minajaya’s coast, usually people hunt when the sea water recedes in the morning and afternoon,” continued Laeni.

“I sell the price per liter of Rp. 5000. Thank God, there are many who need it, income when it is difficult to find money because of PPKM,” he said.

One of the buyers of this seaweed is Siti Aisah, a resident of Nangkawangi Village, Cikangkung Village, Ciracap District, Sukabumi Regency. Siti is waiting for the seaweed harvest season because it will be used as raw material for dodol, or the daily vegetable menu.

“To make dodol the process is pretty good, because the seaweed must be dried first. We buy it not only for dodol ingredients, but also for daily vegetables.

Before the seaweed is cooked, according to Siti, it must be cleaned and soaked for 20 – 30 minutes, so that it is completely clean from beach sand. “Seaweed that is clean is then cut into pieces. Also prepare red chilies, green chilies, onions, garlic, tomatoes, brown sugar and tappers. Try to keep fresh seaweed,” he explained.

When ready, all ingredients are sauteed together, with a little oil and water and medium heat. After it is cooked enough with a high level of freshness, drain the stir fry to be ready to be eaten with the family.
