The release of the export of West Kalimantan agricultural products is worth Rp. 194.31 billion through the Launching of the Independent Export Program by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

Sutarmidji explained that since the beginning of his tenure as governor, increasing the yield of the agricultural and plantation sectors was a major concern. Because at this time the prospect of the mining sector is declining.

The West Kalimantan agricultural products exported include Durian Pasta, Swallow’s Nest, Frozen Coconut Milk, Coconut Flour and other derivatives. Agarwood, resin and ornamental plants, including areca nut.

“The production of the agricultural sector has never dropped because it is a necessity that people need every day. Alhamdulillah, all of this is supported by good quality, so that the exchange rate of farmers is increasing,” he explained

Other Commodities

Meanwhile, for other sectors such as durian, Indonesia has 38 types of superior durian. Of the 19 species, one of them is in West Kalimantan, especially Sanggau.

“Don’t forget that there are innovations, not only pasta, but other products,” he added

In addition, during this pandemic, said Sutarmidji, the community was greatly helped by the trend of ornamental plants/flowers typical of West Kalimantan to orchids.

“This trend of ornamental plants is also in demand and has the potential to be exported,” he added

According to him, all export commodities can absorb a lot of labor and can be more promising for farmers.

“The government has also instructed banks to facilitate credit for the agricultural sector. Last year the value of agricultural exports was 3.6 T, this year until July it has reached 4.5 T. God willing, it can reach 6 T, “said Sutarmidji
