JAKARTA, JITUNEWS.COM – PAN General Chairman Zulkifli Hasan called on the Indonesian people to be united. He did not want the general election (election) to be the cause of the division of the nation.
This, he conveyed in the moment of the 76th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at Widya Chandra’s official residence, Tuesday (17/8/2021).
“Our country needs to be independent, united. The presidential election, the regional election should be able to strengthen us, not to divide. So that Indonesia can grow, be sovereign, and unite,” said Zulhas as he is familiarly known.

Zulhas said that in the past, elections were a momentum to unite the Indonesian nation. However, he felt that the current election was actually being used by some parties to divide the nation.
“Even though it is clear that our goal is independence, we can be free if we are united. This means that elections, regional elections, presidential elections are to strengthen unity, not divide the nation,” he said.
Furthermore, he asked all the people to rethink Indonesia’s vision and mission.
“We are not talking about the majority-minorities. What we are talking about is protecting our countrymen, the spilled blood of Indonesia. Whatever language, religion, ethnicity, we are one. We are no longer talking about ethnicity, we are already talking about the glory of Indonesia,” he said.
