JAKARTA, JITUNEWS.COM – Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana criticized Jokowi’s State Speech at the 2021 People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) annual session at the parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Monday (16/8/2021).

Kurnia said the government had no commitment to eradicate corruption. The reason is that Jokowi did not mention efforts to eradicate corruption in his speech.

“Of course this indicates that the government is increasingly putting aside its commitment to fighting corruption crimes,” said Kurnia Ramadhana in a written statement, Monday (16/8/2021).

Kurnia stated that Indonesia’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) is getting worse with a value of 37 in 2020, down three points from the previous year. He also said the government was not sensitive to the issue of eradicating corruption.

“This has clearly illustrated the government’s mistake in formulating policies to eradicate corruption. Instead of strengthening, what happened was the opposite, the government was one of the masterminds behind the weakening of the corruption eradication agenda,” he said.
